Lord take me now before the world wakes
Theres not much more of this noise I can take
4am shadows are making their way up the wall
Downstairs the baby’s been crying all night
Number 5’s having their usual fight
Spilling out into the hall - nothing unusual at all
Cos when Jesus comes and this life fades away
All this will pass, you just have to wait for it
Day after day
So here in this room is where I’m gonna stay
Waiting for Jesus he’s gonna take me away.
The world I grew up in is long ago dead
Just people and places left inside my head
We all live here in this room nowhere else left to go
I had a husband but he went years back
We never had children I’m grateful for that
Though sometimes it gets in your bones
This living and dying alone
But when Jesus comes and takes me by the hand
What it’s all for, it all will all become clear
It’s just part of his plan
So here in this room is where I’m gonna stay
Waiting for Jesus, he’s gonna take me away
When Jesus comes like I know he will
Saving the best for the last
It could seem like a bittersweet pill
But this can’t be all this life has to show
Waiting for Jesus
Waiting for my turn to go
I’m waiting for Jesus
Waiting for my turn to know
